CEO Alexander’s study in molecular biology was accompanied by his rising interest in lab automation. Following several smaller projects such as bioreactor developments with Martin & Bernhard and his work in a lab measurement company, the team also founded the community biohackerspace ‘Open Biolab Graz Austria’ in 2013.
Soon after, the idea for Kilobaser was born due to their own frequent need for DNA primers.
Our vision is to cut down on waiting time and permanent costly delays by making a device that will make custom DNA primers in a lab.
We create a device that enables scientists to produce ready to use DNA oligos in their lab with friendly software and easy-to-use machine.
Quality (committed to deliver products of exceptional quality), professionalism, integrity, performance and environmental responsibility.
Kilobaser´s logo is a homage to Photograph 51, which is an X-ray diffraction image of DNA taken by Raymond Gosling in May 1952, working as a PhD student under the supervision of Rosalind Franklin. It was critical evidence in identifying the structure of DNA.
